I have been to beautiful Bordeaux, the land of wine and weddings. I was part of a bridal party and got to witness the magical day in an idyllic location.
The bride is one of my dearest friends Victoria.
So the perfect location, with the perfect couple (perfect bridesmaids) needs perfect hair!!
This is the reason I’m telling you all of this, because Victoria has had all the same thoughts and concerns I’m sure every bride has on the run up to the big day.
How long does it need to be?

These are but just a few, so I will endeavour to do my best to document all I can, whilst I’m here and then share all the tips, facts and antidotes.
WEDDING STYLE GUIDE
Saying “I do” is big business for hair and beauty. Weddings generate £10 billion of bussness a year in the UK, with 63 per cent of brides booking a professional hair and make up artist, spending an average of £180.
What’s more the average Brit attends five ceremonies a year – that’s a lot of weddings. Whether you are a bride, a bridesmaid or a guest it’s important to get the perfect hair for the occasion.
Most brides in my opinion opt for curly on the big day.
Curls give extra bounce and volume, for an elegant style that will make hair stand out from the crowd.
It’s important that before you begin styling the hair, you get a clear vision of what you want. Once curled, hair can be sculpted, pinned or worn up/or down.
BYGONE BRIDES
How wedding history can influence today’s trendy brides.
Every era has a signature style and the best looks last way longer than the season that created them. Find a decade that suits your style and adapt the key look to compliment your wedding style.
The 1940ies is one of the most iconic eras and is growing in popularity for weddings as more brides go for a “retro” look.
The fashion was to set the hair with pin curls- however during the war, high tech hair products weren’t available so a mix of sugar and water was used to hold them in place. These days, a firm styling spray will do the trick.
Victoria thought she wanted a vintage inspired updo, we toyed with victory rolls- pin curls where the hair rolled away from the face, allowing her veil be placed behind.
But, like most bides Victoria changed her mind.
The groom had mentioned one evening a good 5 months prior to the wedding that he preferred Victoria with her hair down… guess what happened next…
